STARKIDS SUMMER CAMP

Last week was the first of three summer camps for children aged 4 to grade 4. We had a great time learning about how to be heroes for God. Our next camp will be a special music camp, "Power Praisers" from August 5-8 and the following week (August 11-15) will be our final camp, "Veggie Tales - Calling All Heroes."

DEEP THOUGHTS

We must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from our lives. This doesn't mean we will never be busy... Jesus was often busy, but never hurried. Hurry is not just a disordered schedule. Hurry is a disordered heart. - John Ortberg

Psalm 46:10a - Be still, and know that I am God...

JORDIN SPARKS MAKE VIRGINITY VOW

Young singer Jordin Sparks says that she plans on being a virgin until she gets married.
The 18-year-old American Idol winner has made a vow of chastity and even wears a purity ring to show her dedication to her Christian beliefs, reports Starpulse.com. The star declared, "I don't want to give away bits of my soul to lots of different guys - I want to give all of myself to the right man on the right night, and the right night is my wedding." Sparks is not the only celebrity to make a vow of chastity. The Jonas Brothers and singer Miley Cyrus also wear rings to remind themselves of their commitment to preserving their virginity.

CORNERSTONE FREE CAR WASH

Today we got the chance to serve the community. We had fun washing cars for free from 10-2. It gave us a chance to meet some new people, have great conversations and do something nice to bless the people around us, with no strings attached.

YOUTHQUEST SENIOR HIGH RETREAT

This past weekend a few of us got to go away to a cottage on McKellar Lake. We had a blast tubing, swimming and also hearing from God through the messages. Our them was water and we were challenged to be "Liquid Youth." Some memorable quotes: "Christian life is simple, but it's not easy", "Be different to make a difference." We talked about taking a plunge and having a ripple effect and also talked about how the Holy Spirit is like a well, cistern and a stream. A great weekend!
