WE DAY 2010
Free The Children’s We Day is more than just one day of celebration and inspiration. It’s a one-of-a-kind event and part of an innovative year-long program created to celebrate the power of young people to create positive change in the world.
The event kicks off a year-long program of action, called We Schools in Action. We Day is free of charge and open to any school that wants to be part of the experience. In exchange, each school group that attends is asked to make a commitment to follow the We Schools in Action program, which includes taking local and global action throughout the year.
Since 2007, youth from across North America have come together to discover the passion they have in common, to celebrate their successes, to become aware of new challenges, and to build lasting friendships. The We Day events feature speeches and performances from global leaders and social activists, cultural icons and entertainers.

JUNIOR HIGH SUNDAY SCHOOL
This past Sunday our topic was, "God is Like a Rescue Worker."
We talked about why God is like a rescue worker. Our main verse was Colossians 1:13, "For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves."
We talked about how we can be a rescue worker to others (by focusing on other's needs instead of our own).
We also challenged ourselves to make a list of people we might be able to help and committed to helping them this week.

JUNIOR HIGH SUNDAY SCHOOL
This past Sunday our lesson was - God is Like Water.
We talked about how God is like water - our souls, the deepest spiritual part of who we are, get thirsty. Not for real water, but for something that will make us come alive. People try to quench this thirst with wild living and partying, with money, with adrenaline rushes; but none of these things will take away the thirst in your soul - Jesus will. That's why he's called the living water because he's alive and he satisfies all our needs - Pictures of God.
Our main verse was Psalm 63:1 - O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Our challenge for the week was to be like receive the living water - Jesus and to make a plan to be like water to someone else - by refreshing, quenching and reviving other people.
JUNIOR HIGH YOUTHQUEST
This past Friday was our 1st junior high youthquest of the new school year! We listened to worship songs, played some getting to know you games, prayed a prayer written for the students to bless them as they start the new year (by a parent), and did a study on, "Feeling Small." Some key verses were:
Psalm 139:13-14
For you created my inmost being: you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Colossians 1:21-23
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour. But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation - if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven...
Matthew 18:12-14
What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.
We talked about how we are each a special, gifted person created in the image of God. Everyone feels small sometimes - it's normal! Even confident people who seem to have it all together feel insecure at times. We can't forget that God loves us - He's our biggest fan!!! The challenge is to accept God's love and forgiveness, even when we don't feel loved or forgiven. God is always there for us, no matter how we feel about ourselves - junior high talksheets.

JUNIOR HIGH SUNDAY SCHOOL
On Sunday we had our first lesson of the new school year. We started a unit called, "Pictures of God." It will be 12 lessons long and the first topic was, "God is Like a Gift." Our main verse was Ephesians 2:8, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."
Our goals for this week are to:
1. Understand why God is like a gift
2. Understand how we can be a gift to others by giving ourselves
3. Write out a plan of action for being a gift this week.
We were challenged to pick a person, and to be a gift to that person either:
loving them
encouraging them
serving them
reaching out to them
listening to them

Our next lesson will be, "God is Like Water."
