JUNIOR HIGH SUNDAY SCHOOL
On Sunday we had a chance to go over a few passages:
Mark 5:1-20, "Real Problems, Real Solutions"
- helped us to understand that some problems can only be solved by God's wisdom and power.
John 4:7-29, "Acceptance Before Evangelism"
- helped us to know that we should tell everyone about Jesus (through our words and actions).
One of Sunday school teachers (and her family) just came back from a Cornerstone mission's trip to Nicaragua. She shared with the class about their experience and many youth were inspired to think about short-term missions.

YOUTHQUEST (JUNIOR AND SENIOR)
Tonight our juniors and seniors got together to do our, Change the World Pt. 1 Event.
Our first event was shopping for charity. Each student brought $5, we gathered in groups of 4, and tried to spend as close to $20 as possible without going over. At No Frills, we bought cereal, juice boxes and granola bars.
Back at TMC, we had a representative from 5 With Drive http://www.5wd.ca/ (the charity we donated our groceries to), come in to give a special presentation about how they use their street vehicle to drop groceries off to homeless in York Region.

JUNIOR HIGH SUNDAY SCHOOL
TOPIC: HEART CONDITIONS
TEXT: MARK 4:1-20, "The Parable of the Sower"

Today we talked about the four types of soil, listed the outcomes of seeds being planted in these soils as described by Jesus, and identified the real-life factors that will influence growth or decay in their lives as followers of Jesus.
We had some fun by telling some 'revolving stories' (each person had 10-15 seconds to contribute a few lines to a made up story.
The main point was that while the message (seed) is the same, the condition of an individual's heart (soil) determines that person's response to God's word. In other words, the effect of the message depends on the status of the hearer.
4 HEART CONDITIONS
1. Surface
2. Shallow
3. Strangled
4. Successful
REAL LIFE CONNECTION:
a. If Jesus were to take a sample of the soil of your heart today, what would he find?
b. What can you do to care for the field of your heart to ensure that when God speaks, his word lands on good soil?

SENIOR HIGH YOUTHQUEST
Today we had a leadership meeting with the youth who are planning the 30 hour famine for Cornerstone's YouthQuest transformer group. We'll be doing the famine on Saturday April 28. Our goal is to raise 1 million dollars... or something like that :)
CORNERSTONE YOUTHQUEST BASKETBALL
On Wednesday our basketball program was cancelled due to March Break. The leaders had a meeting to review our year so far as well as plan the rest of the year. There will be some new, exciting changes coming up when we resume next. Be on the lookout!!!

CORNERSTONE YOUTHQUEST BASKETBALL
Today was a special day for Cornerstone YouthQuest Basketball. 2 student leaders and 2 adult leaders got to watch a Raptors game courtesy of a gracious donation from a member of Cornerstone Christian Community Church. They had a great time (even though the Raptors lost and missed free pizza by 1 point).
Thanks to Nadurra Wood Corporation.
Earlier this week, yourfriendlyneighbourhoodyouthpastor got to attend a Raptors game with one of the student volunteers at Cornerstone due to another gracious donation from a member or Cornerstone Christian Community Church. It was a great game, where the Raptors won and scored more than 100 points (free pizza!)

Today we looked at Mark 3:7-19 - "The Call"
Is bigger better?
These days it's easy to think bigger is better. Yet Jesus seems to go against this way of thinking by selecting only a few people in whom to uniquely and strategically invest. Now, here we are more than 2, 000 years later, and large numbers of Christ-followers can be found around the world as a result of Jesus' small group strategy. His small group made a big impact.
The primary reason Jesus called them was not to do something, but to be something. He called them - and calls us today - first to be with him. Jesus models for us that who we are is more important than what we do; that our doing mus flow out of our being. Jesus calls us to be both/and, not either/or.
Somethings to think about:
There were twelve tribes in Israel - Jesus choses twelve disciples. Hmmm....
Peter was renamed "Rock" by Jesus. At first, Peter seems to be anything but a rock, but Jesus seems to see the potential in it.
How did Simon the Zealot respond when he first met Matthew - who used to work for the Roman government?
Jesus took a rag-tag group of individuals and used them to change the world!!!
We also continued to get to know each other by answering two questions about each other:
1. One thing I really like about you is...
2. A question I've always wanted to ask you is...

JUNIOR HIGH SUNDAY SCHOOL
Topic: Rules, rules, rules
Background/Overview:
The Jewish leaders watched Jesus and his disciples closely. The Pharisees wanted to catch Jesus breaking the Jewish law so they could discredit him as a teacher from God. When they saw Jesus' disciples gathering and eating grain on the Sabbath, they thought they had an opportunity to lower the boom on him. Jesus refuted their accusation by focusing on the purpose of the law, not the strict adherence to the law.
Our main scripture was Mark 2:23-27, "Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath"

Don't let rules become your faith
- there are problems with rules-centered living
- walk in the spirit of the law
- human need is a higher law than religious ritualism
Real-Life Connection
Ask yourself three important questions every day this week:
1. What makes me right with God - is it my good behaviour or God's amazing grace?
2. Do I make decisions based on what I have to do or what I want to do to be like Jesus?
3. Is there any pride in myself or condemnation of others based on good behaviour or do I offer forgiveness for others as God forgives me

SENIOR HIGH YOUTHQUEST
Topic: Acceptance Before Evangelism
Background/Overview: Jesus took time to talk to a Samaritan woman. She then told everyone about Jesus and how he knew everything about her.
1. Jesus broke the social rules
2. The woman couldn't stop talking about him
Jesus didn't preach at this woman; instead he engaged in deep conversation, bringing it from the material world to the spiritual. He met her at her level.
She recognized Jesus as a Jew, a prophet, and finally as the Christ.
Our main text was John 4:7-29
