YOUNG CANADIANS IN A WIRED WORLD

As with most things, the Internet can be used for good or bad. Parental supervision and involvement is critical. Gregory Smith, author of "How To Protect Your Children on the Internet" (2007), offers this advice on how to keep your kids safe online.

1. Get up to speed on modern day technologies
2. Use content filtering on any computer that a minor uses at home to access the Internet
3. Develop an Internet use policy for your children
4. Talk to your children about the risks of going online.
